An interview with CHITOSE Principal BioEngineer Tetsushi Kawai was published in the special report “Biomanufacturing Bases: Hubs That Ease the Transition to Commercialization” in the 92nd issue of Focus NEDO, a magazine operated by NEDO (the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) .

This report introduces the various sites of NEDO’s bio-manufacturing initiatives (bio-foundry sites) alongside their activities. At Chitose Laboratory Corp., we have successfully transferred the “craftsmanship” of microbial cultivation to AI, enabling AI-controlled processes to achieve productivity surpassing that of humans. Moving forward, we will continue to cooperate with experts in fermentation and cultivation, while enhancing the quality and quantity of data and improving AI performance. By establishing highly productive and stable cultivation processes, we aim to support the industrialization of biotechnology and the realization of the bioeconomy.
