Chitose Agriculture Expands to Thailand

2024.10.03

In September 2024, CHITOSE Agriculture Initiative (CAI) announced the establishment of a subsidiary in Thailand with the goal of expanding the production and sales of sustainably grown vegetables and fruits for Southeast Asian markets.

This expansion builds on the company’s successful operations in Malaysia and Singapore, where CAI has experienced significant growth in recent years. Today, CAI’s produce is available in 60 supermarkets and outlets and is featured prominently in the cuisine of premier restaurants.

The decision to enter the Thai market was driven by strong local demand for fresh, premium-quality products, the growing popularity of Japanese cuisine, and Thailand’s vibrant dining culture. CAI plans to introduce its current product offerings, such as exclusively grown sweet CHITOSE white corn, to the Thai market, while also collaborating with local farmers to enhance the supply of region-specific agricultural products.

Additionally, CAI aims to empower local communities through the establishment of supply chains and promotion of sustainable agricultural practices. This will not only build an environmentally friendly production system but also contribute to the livelihoods of ethnic minority groups, who are predominantly engaged in agriculture.
