On April 18, 2024, CHITOSE participated in the first UAE-Japan Joint Business Council Forum, held alongside the World Future Energy Summit (WFES). The event aimed to facilitate Japan-UAE joint business endeavors and initiatives, with attendees such as government officials, as well as business representatives from UAE and Japan. Participants showcased their projects across five distinct categories: Healthcare, Water Management, Web3.0/Innovation, Hydrogen Technologies, and Green Materials.

During the Web3/Innovation panel, Kyuzo Katsuyma, Senior Manager of Financial Strategy Div., introduced CHITOSE and highlighted its work toward a new industry based on microalgae. He also shared CHITOSE’s goal for the Middle East: “Let’s green a desert,” as part of the company’s broader ambition to build a circular society based on biotechnologies with the power of “small-living things.” Technical discussions followed, delving into the specifics of CHITOSE’s strategies and exploring the potential applications of microalgae across diverse industries such as food and jet fuel (SAF).

Following the panel, a networking session provided an opportunity for CHITOSE to engage with notable figures such as H.E. Jamal bin Saif Al Jarwan (Secretary-General of the UAE International Investors Council), H.E. Masaood Rahma Al Masood (Chairman of the Board, Emirates Angels Investors Association), Mr. Nobuhiro Yoshida (Vice-Minister of METI), and Mr. Akio Isomata (Ambassador of Japan to the United Arab Emirates). The positive comments highlighted the impressive nature of CHITOSE’s efforts, assuring continuous support for business and research activities, with both UAE and Japan sides suggesting potential collaboration on the governmental level.

The event linked CHITOSE with valuable allies, laying the groundwork for future collaboration in sustainable innovation. This participation reflects CHITOSE’s efforts in expanding business operations into the Middle East, as the company strengthens ties with governments and businesses on the Arabian Peninsula.
