CHITOSE participated in the 28th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Gene & Cell Therapy (ASGCT), held May 13–17 in New Orleans, USA. As one of the most influential international conferences in the field, the event welcomed nearly 8,000 attendees, including academics, clinicians, industry leaders, pharmaceutical developers, vendors, and patient advocates.

At this year’s meeting, a wide range of topics related to gene and cell therapy were presented. Among them, particular attention was given to adeno-associated virus (AAV) as a leading platform for in vivo gene delivery. Research on AAV—spanning its biology, vector manufacturing, and clinical development—was a major focus at ASGCT 2025, accounting for roughly 23% of all oral presentations.

Senior Bioengineer Yu-Hsin Chang delivered an oral presentation showcasing CHITOSE’s pioneering work on the establishment and development of Human Amniotic epithelial cell line for gene and cell Therapy (HAT)*1. The presentation, titled “Establishment of a Novel Human Cell Line, HAT, for High-Yield and High-Quality AAV Manufacturing,” was presented on May 16 during the “AAV Vector Manufacturing: Plasmids & Cell Line Development” session, drawing an audience of 200–300 participants.

The presentation highlighted the robust performance of HAT cells, showing consistent titers and high proportions of full particles across shake flask and benchtop bioreactor production, indicating HAT’s strong scalability and potential. 

Following the conference, the team received several positive follow-up inquiries regarding HAT cells. CHITOSE remains committed to actively presenting its innovations at leading international forums to enhance visibility, foster collaborations, and strengthen its presence within the global gene and cell therapy community.
